Dark magenta red, triangular shaped plumes are borne on darker red stems. Astilbe 'Montgomery' blooms in midsummer. The leaves of this plant emerge with a bronze-red tint in spring, then turn dark green. A member of Astilbe japonica (Japanese Astilbe). A species characterized by an early bloom time and glossy green leaves often tinged with red. Flowers are produced in dense, pyramidal clusters.
